Internship Evaluations |

What do our interns learn? How do they evaluate their internship experience? Here are a few comments… Margaret Gormley, Bowdoin College ‘06 What professional skills did you learn during this internship that you feel will help you further in college and in your career? I feel as though I learned so much! I mean, I really didn’t know anything about networking, and feel like I have learned so much about the importance of talking to people and making connections, and how those connections can help you in your career even years later. I have also learned the value of the published word, not just how important it is to be published, but also that it is a realistic goal for anyone who wishes to write, and learning the process will help me in the future with anything I want to write and get published. What career insights did you gain that you feel will help you be successful in your eventual career? Again, the professional skill of networking I think helped me gain insight into how I can be successful in my career, because networking can benefit a career in any field. Also I think I definitely would like to work in publishing, as the little experience with the publishing world I gained here was fascinating to me, and would definitely be a place I think I would enjoy beginning my career. What aspects of the internship did you enjoy? I enjoyed very much having lunch with Drew Yanno, a client who had planned to write a book, and learning about his book proposal. I also enjoyed working on client book proposals, I felt as though I was a significant part of the creation of something I could find on the shelf in a bookstore sometime in the future, which made me feel very accomplished and special. THANKS! I had a wonderful summer working for you! Click here to learn more about Internship Opportunities. |
