THOUGHTLEADER PROFILE

Charlie NaultCharlie Nault

Imagine what would happen if your computer unexpectedly refused to function as you began your workday. Immediately, your morning would be turned upside down. Because your business depends on your computer, you would waste time toiling over fixing it rather than dealing with business.

Today, IT deserves status as a utility. It is so essential that most people don’t even realize it’s there; they just expect that it’s working and will keep on working. But when IT stops working, everything goes wrong! Fortunately, Charlie Nault knows how to prevent IT disasters from happening and what to do in the regrettable event that your IT fails.

As the Founder and Chairman of the Board at Atrion Networking Corporation, Charlie is recognized throughout the United States as an expert technical consultant. Numerous publications have featured his article, “IT Should Always Function as a ‘Utility,’” and he is in the process of writing and publishing on the same subject, tentatively titled, Always On! A Simple Guide for Keeping Your Finger on the Pulse of Your Company’s Critical Systems. Unlike other such books and publications out there, Charlie's book will be directed toward managers and executives and directors who are not technically inclined, since those leaders most need to understand and assure proper implementation of these concepts. His reader-friendly format ensures that the book’s contents are accessible and serviceable.

Before founding Atrion, Charlie trained at distinguished companies like Motorola/Codex Corporation, Avanti Communications and Dynatech Corporation. Now, years later, he has led his own firm to celebrated success: Atrion holds the rare “Gold Certified Partner” status from Cisco System — the world leader in Internetworking — which denotes that Atrion works directly at the highest levels within Cisco. Customers apparently agree with Atrion’s mark of prestige, as Atrion has regularly received among the best ratings in the country for customer satisfaction under Charlie's leadership (and now CEO Tim Hebert’s).

Beyond his efforts at Atrion, Charlie has also served as an integral member of several boards and organizations. He holds director positions in the Information Technology Academy and the Rhode Island Technology Council, and is an active member of the CEO Club of Boston and the Chief Executives Club of Rhode Island. In addition, he has taken on the challenge of full-time directorship of The Artic Mission, a Christian mission in Warwick Rhode Island serving its homeless and low-income population. Charlie has also volunteered countless hours at Christian Hill Community Church and as Co-Chairman of the External Relations Committee for the Community College of Rhode Island Foundation.
