thoughts you should know...
...amusing analogies

Each year, US English teachers submit analogies and metaphors found in their students’ high school essays in a contest to determine those that are most, ah, “amusing.” Observe a few of 2007’s winners:

  • The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't.
  • He was as tall as a six-foot, three-inch tree.
  • The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated because of his wife's infidelity came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free ATM machine.
  • The ballerina rose gracefully, en pointe, and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a fire hydrant.
  • It was an American tradition, like fathers chasing kids around with power tools.
  • He fell for her like his heart was a mob informant, and she was the East River.
  • She was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck, either, but a real duck that was actually lame, maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.
  • Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever.

thoughtleader university...
...thoughtleaders make the most money!

If you position yourself and your firm as leading-edge thinkers in your field, i.e., “thoughtleaders,” will your investments pay off? And can your return on investment (ROI) be quantified? Finally, will such measurement show a happy return?

The answer is… YES.

In his new book The Expert’s Edge: Become The Go-To Authority People Turn To Every Time, emersongroup Chief Imaginative Officer (CIO) Ken Lizotte CMC explores thoughtleading ROI, including how and why thoughtleaders make the most money! Naturally, the book also explains how readers can become thoughtleaders themselves.

An excerpt on this topic was recently published in The Independent Consultant. Click here to read: http://www.thoughtleading.com/article_tlroi_kl.htm
