thoughts you should know...
...failure is not fatal
Failure is not fatal.
Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker.
It should challenge us to new heights of accomplishments, not pull us to new depths of despair.
From honest failure comes valuable experience.
—William Arthur Ward
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
—Theodore Roosevelt
Fall seven times, stand up eight.
—Japanese proverb
If you’re not failing, you’re not trying.
—Alan Weiss
Failure is desirable.
—ancient CareerScape saying

thoughts and actions...
...give your PR efforts lasting value
When conducting PR efforts, aim for one of two categories, advises our PR Czar Henry Stimpson: “industry leader” or “thought leader.” Though both these terms mean similar things, “industry leader” usually applies to organizations while “thought leader” refers to an individual.
Both terms indicate that the organization or individual is a force to be reckoned with. So use PR efforts, Henry says, to get you there by overlapping three prongs of a concerted strategy:
1. Write and publish articles. Your leader status rises steadily as you publish multiple articles over time.
2. Speak up! Accept virtually all appropriate speaking invitations from professional groups and industry forums that come your way.
3. Be media savvy. When quoted or mentioned in the news media, an implicit third-party endorsement is the result. Offer yourself and your staff as expert sources and when a reporter does call, drop everything to respond to questions at once.
Put these three prongs together and 1+1+1 will equal 4. As a recognized leader, your knowledge and services will now be sought out. Moreover, each of these prongs feeds on the others: media coverage begets requests to write articles, articles spark invitations to speak, speaking attracts prospects and media coverage, and so on. Such overlap soon takes on a life of its own.
Our client thought leaders report the truth of this. See entries “March 2005” and “December 2004” on our Thought Blog for sample scenarios: http://www.thoughtleading.com/thoughtblog.htm
